Law Students Join in National Day of Solidarity to Mark Third Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina
Golden Gate Law students will participate in the Student Hurricane Network National Day of Solidarity on Friday, August 29, with a panel featuring GGU law students who spent their spring break assisting hurricane victims in New Orleans. State Bar President Jeffrey Bleich To Discuss Public Service in Jesse Carter Lecture on September 12
Jeffrey Bleich, the president of the State Bar of California and litigation partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP who includes pro bono assistance to indigent clients as a core component of his practice, will speak on "Public Service" at the first Jesse Carter Distinguished Lecture of the 2008-09 academic year, on Friday, Sept. 12, from noon to 1 pm in Room 2202 at the School of Law. Women's Employment Rights Clinic Achieves Victory for Women Electricians
Student clinicians with the School of Law's Women's Employment Rights Clinic (WERC), litigating with Equal Rights Advocates, recently settled a gender discrimination case brought on behalf of six women electricians. The workers asserted they were targeted for layoff on the basis of their gender in violation of the state anti-discrimination law. After an Alameda County Superior Court judge rejected the employer's motion for summary judgment, the parties settled the case through mediation.
