Steve Lanza is a business leader, educator, and advisor with over 20 years of global executive experience in the technology sector. As the Principal of Tri-Valley Advising, LLC, he specializes in guiding small and mid-sized companies through strategic growth, operational excellence, and executive leadership development. Prior to founding Tri-Valley Advising, Steve held senior executive roles—including Vice President and Corporate Officer positions—at Fortune 300 and mid-sized technology companies, leading global teams across finance, sales, marketing, operations, and organizational development. During his 12-year tenure at Lam Research, he contributed to the company’s 400% growth, driving alignment and accountability across global operations as the company surpassed $10 billion in revenue. His experience in business transformation extends to his leadership roles at Mattson Technology, CPU Technology, Watkins-Johnson and Raychem. During these roles he also worked abroad in Mexico, Europe and managed large groups in Asia.
Beyond the corporate sector, Steve is an educator, serving as a Faculty Lecturer at the University of San Francisco and Golden Gate University, where he teaches graduate-level courses in business strategy, entrepreneurship, and management. In 2024, he was named the Ted Mitchell Distinguished Adjunct Professor at Golden Gate University. Committed to community impact, Steve serves as a Trustee on the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District Board, where he helps shape the future of education for over 30,000 students. He has also held leadership roles as Chair of the Las Positas College Foundation Board and the Innovation Tri-Valley Leadership Group, working to strengthen education, workforce development, and regional economic growth. Additionally, he serves on the board of SPARC, a regional performing arts organization.
Steve holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and an MBA in Finance from Golden Gate University. He is also a Certified Management Accountant and has completed executive education at Caltech and leadership development programs at Lam Research and GAP International. Through his work in business, education, and community leadership, he remains dedicated to fostering growth, innovation, and long-term success for organizations and individuals alike.
