Campus Weekend

Every Campus Weekend day follows the same shape. Academic sessions alternate with community programming, allowing full participation across the day’s events.

Saturday

Saturday Evening Reception and Event

Open to all registered Campus Weekend students, whether you are attending Saturday or Sunday. All hybrid students are encouraged to attend – Saturday participants are encouraged to stay through the evening and Sunday participants are encouraged to arrive in time for the Saturday evening event.

Sunday

Campus Weekend is held at GGU’s Lake Merced campus. If you’re planning to use Uber, Lyft, Waymo or other service providers, the best address to use for drop-off/pick-up is 8 Tapia Drive, San Francisco, CA 94132.

PUBLIC TRANSIT
The campus is easily accessible via public transit.

BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit)
Take the RED, YELLOW, BLUE or GREEN BART lines to the Daly City Station, then transfer to Muni. Three Muni bus routes connect Daly City BART and the campus: Line 28 (19th Avenue), Line 28R (19th Avenue Rapid), and Line 57 Parkmerced. All three of these have drop-off stops within a short walk of Marcus Hall.

BART riders are eligible for two free Muni rides on the 28 and 57 when transferring from Daly City Station and paying with a Clipper Card. The free-fare is applied automatically when you tap your Clipper Card on exit turnstile at the Daly City Station; you must also tap when boarding Muni as proof of payment. The first trip must be taken within 23 hours of exiting BART and the second within 24 hours.

Muni Metro (Municipal Metro Light Rail)
The Muni M Line (Ocean View) serves the SF State Station at 19th Avenue and Holloway Avenue. From there, it’s approximately a 10-minute walk west across campus on Holloway Avenue to Marcus Hall (8 Tapia Drive).

PARKING

• Street Parking: Is extremely limited on campus especially when classes are in session or during special events.
• On-Campus Parking: A valid daily permit is required at all times in every lot. There is no “free” parking at any time unless otherwise posted. There are multiple lots across campus, however Lot 20 is the lot for designated for visitors, guests and the general public.
• Daily Parking Permits can be purchased by using the PayByPhone app. Download the PayByPhone app at the Apple or Google app stores or call the PayByPhone number posted on signage throughout the garage and parking lots. Your license plate serves as the “permit“. For information on PayByPhone, follow this link.
  • If you are unable to download the PayByPhone app, or choose not to, then you’ll need to visit the Parking Office on North State Drive. They do not accept cash payments.
• Lot 20 (on State Drive) is the recommended parking location. It is open 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. These rates include all taxes and fees.
• Daily permits expire at midnight. Levels 4i Orange through 4n Orange and the roof are restricted to SFSU faculty and staff from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

What to bring

• Your GGU ID, QR code from registration, and a laptop. Meals are provided.

Accessibility and accommodations

• Accommodation requests must be submitted to, and evaluated by, the Office of Accessible Education in advance.

How do I register for a Campus Weekend?
Registration details were sent to students’ myGGU email addresses on August 31, 2026.

Do I attend one or both days?
One day. Register for either the Saturday or the Sunday of one weekend. That single day satisfies the on-campus requirement for all of your HYB courses that term.

I am taking four HYB courses. Do I attend four times?
No. One day per term covers all of your HYB courses, however many you are taking.

Can I attend both weekends?
Due to capacity constraints, students are asked to register for only one day per term.

The session I want is full. What now?
If the session you want is full, please consider the next best available day of the four options per term.

I booked travel for a weekend that is no longer available. What should I do?
Please do not book travel until you register for your preferred Campus Weekend day (and receive confirmation of that reservation).

Can I change the session I registered for?
Yes, as capacity allows. Contact your academic advisor for details.

Is the evening reception required?
Though attendance is optional, we encourage you to join the Saturday evening reception, which is open to students registered for either day.

Is there a dress code?
We ask that attendees wear business casual attire or better. Since we’ll have a photographer documenting the day and may offer complimentary headshot sessions, this is a great opportunity to dress to impress.

Can I bring a guest?
Due to capacity constraints, guests are not permitted to attend GGU-specific programming. However, guests and visitors are generally allowed on the Lake Merced campus, as long as they abide by the relevant policies for each area. For example, campus policy dictates that children must be under the direct supervision of their parent(s) at all times, and children/guests are not eligible to participate in GGU programming.

I am an online student. Can I come?
Currently, these sessions are only available to Hybrid students due to capacity restrictions.

What happens if I miss my session?
Your grade is reduced in each HYB course you are taking that term. If you have a conflict, switch weekends before the change deadline.

Note: If you do not attend, the university will not be able to certify your attendance.

While I am at Campus Weekend, I’d like to get my student ID card. How can I do that?
GGU’s Business Services, Administration & Facilities (BSAF) department can print GGU ID cards. To get started, follow the steps below.

• Navigate to myGGU. Upload a photo to your profile at the top right corner. Tip: .PNG is the preferred file format to ensure optimal file size. Remember to hit the blue “Save All” button in the upper right-hand corner before leaving this page.
• Once you’ve uploaded your profile photo, request your GGU ID Card for pickup by emailing bsf@ggu.edu with the Subject Line: GGU ID Card + [your name] + Student ID number. For Campus Weekend pickup, please email by 9/25/2026 for October 3/4 or by 11/27/2026 for Dec 5/6. If you would like it shipped, please include your preferred mailing address.
• Visit the GGU Lake Merced campus (Marcus Hall, 8 Tapia Dr, Rm. 325) to pick up your GGU ID Card. Regular office hours are Mon-Fri 9am – 5pm. During Campus Weekends, students will be able to pick up IDs at breakfast, or at the office referenced above on Sat-Sun, from 9am – 5pm.

Does GGU have hotel recommendations that are near campus?
GGU does not endorse or recommend any hotel, and students are responsible for arranging their own lodging. That in mind, the Hampton Inn Daly City and the Marines Memorial Hotel both offer a veteran discount. For rates and availability, please contact the hotel directly.
