Originally, I’m from St Petersburg, Russia. I graduated from the Polytechnic University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In October 1989, my family moved to Silicon Valley. My first impression of Silicon Valley was the infamous earthquake with magnitude of 6.9, which hit the San Francisco Bay Area in 1989. On that day I was in the middle of the road in San Jose, when I saw a jumping traffic light and a waving 30-story building. It was really “Welcome to California!” sign.
I have a great passion for relational databases. It began with Oracle 7.1, when I started working as a DBA and Developer. Through the years I’ve built various database applications, data warehouses and reporting environments, supported worldwide distributed database platforms, went through all versions of Oracle, developed on MsSqlServer, MySQL and PostgreSQL. Also, I always loved teaching, ran a lot of user training and taught SQL at a private computer school.
Besides databases I love cats, enjoy swimming and reading.
