Chief Carlos Sanchez has an extensive background in the criminal justice area having worked in areas of cyber security, high tech, economic crimes, public integrity, fraud, child abductions and general criminal domains, such as homicide, family violence, and sexual assaults. Prof. Sanchez retired from the San Francisco District Attorney’s
Office having gone through the ranks up to Assistant Chief Investigator for eight years and involved in a variety of high-profile criminal cases, including commander of Officer-Involved Shootings cases, which attracted an extensive interest by the media nationally and worldwide. In addition to his 35 plus years in law enforcement, he has worked in the private sector, most notably as Global Manager for Visa Cyber Security & Fraud Division, ran a successful San Francisco landmark restaurant and conducted a weekly series on fraud for five years on Univision Spanish Television gaining him an Emmy nomination. He served as the Assistant Agency Director and Chief Investigator for Alameda County’s Social Services Agency and is currently the lead Inspector for Fraud Investigations for the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, with the lateral assignment of Officer-Involved Shooting investigations.
Prof. Sanchez attended the University of California at Berkeley where he received a B.A. in Legal Studies & Spanish and obtained an Executive Master of Public Administration degree from Golden Gate University. He also holds an Executive Law Enforcement Advance Certification from the FBI National Academy and the University of Virginia. He is a graduate of the WestPoint Leadership Academy and the Senior Management Institute for Police. He continually applies himself to learn in each assignment and familiarized with the evolving laws. He teaches to Law Enforcement and Prosecutors throughout the State and country, as well as internationally to a varied audience that included foreign Judges and State officials.
