Vanessa Castillo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly 20 years of experience in mental health, education, and social services. As an adjunct faculty member at Golden Gate University’s Ageno School of Business, she teaches Cross-Cultural Psychology, equipping students with the knowledge to navigate diverse and evolving mental health landscapes. She specializes in trauma-informed, equity-driven interventions and has worked extensively in schools, behavioral health programs, and community-based settings.

In her role as a Social Work Specialist Administrator at Mt. Diablo Unified School District, Vanessa designs and implements culturally responsive mental health programs for newcomer immigrant and refugee students. She also provides clinical supervision, consultation, and training in trauma-informed care to educators and mental health professionals, ensuring they are prepared to serve diverse populations effectively.

Vanessa holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of San Francisco. She is licensed under the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and is currently pursuing an Administrative Services Credential to expand her leadership in K-12 education. A dedicated lifelong learner, she balances her professional career with long-distance running, supporting her children’s athletic endeavors, and preserving her Latin American heritage through family traditions. She resides in the East Bay with her family.
