Mona Sabuco has been noted as an honored adjunct professor at both Golden Gate University (GGU) and Dominican University of California as well as an adjunct professor at University of San Francisco (USF) and Sonoma State University (SSU), all in their schools of business; both lecturing and advising students at various levels including undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA and also Wine MBA. Her area of focus is broad – lecturing in many business areas including Global Management, Cross-culture Management, Asian Economics, Leadership, Organization Capabilities, Operations, Enterprise Performance Management, Business Strategy, and Technology Strategy.
Dr. Sabuco had been with Chevron Corporation for over 30 years and in her last position, she managed Operational Excellence and Business Planning for the global Corporate Human Resources (responsible for over $0.25 billion in operating expense) as well as managing the Project Management Office (PMO) for the HR Function – worldwide. She supported the Vice President of Corporate Human Resources (HR) and Corporate Services in top-level meetings where she has presented at the Business Process Reviews to Chevron’s Corporate Strategic Planning Committee.
Other positions she has held included managing finance and information technology for the Corporate Public Affairs Department, providing finance analysis for the Technology Marketing Company – working in Japan and South Korea as well as working on key M&As. In addition, she has held positions such as Compliance Officer and Project Manager for a Corporate-wide project on Privacy of Personal Information. She was originally one of 50ish out of 53,000 who could train others on Operational Excellence within Chevron world-wide. She also created the Corporate HR emergency management system used by all USA employees (approximately 25,000 employees) for reporting during and after an emergency.
In addition to other Chevron positions, she has been on a board, consulted with various organizations and individuals as well as mentoring many students in career management and development. She has experience in retail and restaurant industries as well. Her consulting consists of understanding the situation and developing sound plans and, where needed, holistic business solutions to ensure the future success of the organization and the individual. Through her strong story-telling stills, she is able to succinctly identify the issue, provide alternatives, and help recommend and execute the best solution set within a minimum about of time!
Dr. Sabuco has earned both her Doctorate Degree (DBA in International Business) and her MBA (in Business Management) from Golden Gate University while working full time. Her dissertation was centered on “decision-making and assessing technology”. She is a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma and is also certified by Chevron for Project Management. She lives in Marin and is a native San Franciscan.
