Charles Wang serves as Vice President for Strategic Partnerships at Golden Gate University, where he leads the university’s global partnership and international education initiatives.
A recognized leader in international higher education, Charles previously served as Associate Vice President for China & East Asia Affairs at the University of Arizona, where he was the central architect of the university’s expansion in China. During his tenure at the University of Arizona, Charles led the establishment of six Chinese-foreign cooperative education programs approved by China’s Ministry of Education. Under his leadership, the university’s dual-degree programs in China grew to more than 2,400 students, significantly expanding academic collaboration and student pathways between the United States and China.
Charles is frequently invited to deliver keynote addresses at major international education forums, including the World University President Forum in Beijing.
Before entering higher education leadership, Charles led a distinguished judicial career in both China and the U.S. In China, he served as a judge and ultimately rose to the position of Chief Judge in the Chinese maritime court system. He later served as a Foreign Visiting Judge at a federal district court in Maryland and as an in-residence judicial fellow at the Federal Judicial Center in Washington, D.C.
Charles earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona, an LL.M. in U.S. Law from the University of Baltimore, and an LL.M. in International Economic Law from Shandong University.
