TRANSFER CREDIT EQUIVALENCIES

Determining how your credit will transfer to Golden Gate is easy!

First - view your degree progam to see what's needed
Then - see how courses from other schools match. You can do this in two ways: The courses listed have been entered as transfer equivalents in GGU's degree audit database.

Some basic guidelines for transfer credit:
  • A maximum of 70 semester units may be transferred from two-year schools.
  • Candidates for bachelor's degrees must complete at least 30 units at GGU, including 21 units of upper division Required for the Major or Business Core courses.
  • Only courses with grades of C- or better will transfer for undergraduate programs. Graduate students must earn a grade of B- or better in courses to be transferred as foundation courses.
  • Courses not specifically articulated may transfer as elective credit.
  • Additional courses may fulfill the Liberal Studies Core requirement based on content and units earned.

Basic Proficiencies - 21 units

Computer Skills (3 units) 1 course

Critical Thinking (3 units) 1 course
  • CRTH 10 Critical Thinking
Quantitative Skills (6 units) 2 courses (as designated by degree program)Placement test is required:
  • MATH 20 Intermediate Algebra
  • MATH 30 College Algebra
  • MATH 40 Statistics
Written & Oral Communication (9 units) 3 courses Placement test is required:
  • ENGL 1A Expository Writing
  • ENGL 1B Research Writing
  • One of the following:
    • COMM 35 Speech Communication
    • COMM 40 Understanding Communication
Major Foundation - 9-18 units (as designated by degree program) Lower division prerequisite courses and courses that prepare students for study in the major (9-18 units/3-6 courses) to be specified by the major, e.g. ACCTG 1A and ACCTG 1B, ECON 1 and ECON 2.

LIBERAL STUDIES CORE - 21 UNITS A course used to fulfill a basic proficiencies requirement or a subject area requirement in the liberal studies core cannot be used to fulfill any other degree requirement. Likewise, a course used to fulfill a major requirement of any kind cannot be used to fulfill a basic proficiencies or liberal studies core requirement. One course (3 units) from each area:
  • Arts
  • History
  • Humanities
  • Literature
  • Philosophy
  • Science
  • Social Sciences
REQUIRED FOR THE MAJOR/BUSINESS CORE - 18-33 UNITS (as designated by degree program)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS - 3-6 UNITS (as designated by degree program)

GENERAL ELECTIVES/INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ELECTIVES/CONCENTRATION - 12-48 UNITS (as designated by degree program)
