Organizational Assessment, Selection, and Performance Evaluation

This course prepares students to design, implement, and interpret assessment systems that support evidence-based people decisions in organizations. Students learn how assessment informs employee selection, placement, development, performance evaluation, and broader organizational effectiveness initiatives, with emphasis on job analysis, structured and standardized assessment methods, performance appraisal systems, person-environment fit, leadership assessment, and team effectiveness. Through hands-on experience, students select, administer, and interpret widely used organizational assessment tools while also constructing and validating new measures. The course covers foundational principles of reliability, validity, fairness, and legal defensibility in employment assessment, and students use statistical software to analyze assessment data and diagnose individual, team, and organizational challenges.
