Equips students with the knowledge and therapeutic tools necessary to work with families encountering special treatment issues including: substance abuse; immigration; illness; end of life and grief; and financial stress and homelessness. Students will also learn how to work with families who have a unique structure or are undergoing change such as same-sex relationships; divorce; single and step-parenting; and adoption. Students will be provided with a theoretical foundation while learning to execute practical therapeutic approaches required when working with a variety of special situations.
