This course examines US healthcare delivery and administration using a systems approach. Students will gain a deep understanding of how healthcare systems function as smaller integrated, interdependent components in the delivery of health services. Topics include financing; reimbursement; insurance; impact of the Affordable Care Act; hospital organizational structure; key stakeholders and their roles; as well as equity and access issues. The focus will be on the interrelationship of the course topics with their managerial implications.
