From Surviving to Thriving: Recipes for Life | 12:00pm | 1:00pm | Room 3201 | Speaker: Nate Hinerman, PhD, LMFT
Humans are arguably the most profoundly social species on the planet. As we evolved in the Serengeti, exile was a death sentence. Causes have effects. And, if we don’t get the supplies that we need, bit by bit, it’s like we’re living on a thin soup – you can survive, you can make it, but there’s a hollowness, an emptiness, inside. This talk will explore new “recipes” for updating our sense of being-in-the-world, even amidst the “soup” of difficult experiences. This talk will help participants learn ways to reframe negative experience and unhook from the unhelpful, and instead exchange these clouds for blue sky with more skillful means. |
