John Zott is a Senior Adjunct Professor at GGU and works as a CFO for a consulting firm in Washington D.C. Dr. Zott previously ran an equity research firm providing fundamental and behavioral investment research on consumer-oriented stocks for hedge funds.

Before doing investment research, Dr. Zott started Warmboard, Inc. and served as Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Zott previously served as Chief Financial Officer for West Marine, Inc, (formerly WMAR on the NASDAQ) and other private companies for over 25 years. Dr. Zott has been involved in IPO’s, secondary offerings. private equity and venture funded start-ups and has negotiated and closed M&A transactions ranging from one store operations to multi-million-dollar public company mergers. Dr. Zott received his BS in Accounting and an MBA from the University of Detroit Mercy and received his Doctor of Business Administration at Golden Gate University in 2008 where he was named Doctoral Student of the Year. His dissertation is titled “An Analysis of the Impact of Leasing on Equity Values”.

Dr. Zott resides in DC and is an avid tennis player, sailor and reader.
