On October 1, 2025, Golden Gate University’s Career Services team hosted its first in-person career fair since before the pandemic, welcoming nine employers and 60 attendees—including both students and alumni—to the Tax and Accounting Mini Career Fair at GGU’s downtown San Francisco campus.
Participating employers included KPMG, Grant Thornton, EisnerAmper, Becker Professional Education, Navolio & Tallman, Delagnes, Mitchell & Linder, Apercen Partners, Spott, Lucey & Wall, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The event provided an important opportunity for job seekers to connect directly with hiring professionals in a field experiencing high demand for qualified talent. In-person events like this allow candidates to break through the noise of online applications and applicant tracking systems, make a strong first impression, and leverage GGU’s long-standing reputation for preparing career-ready professionals.
“In today’s market, these events are invaluable for job seekers,” said Joana Scharinger, Director of Career Services. “They give students and alumni a chance to showcase their interests, ask thoughtful questions, and start meaningful conversations with potential employers.”
Attendees were eager to network and learn more about the companies represented, while employers appreciated the opportunity to meet motivated GGU students face to face. Five employers responded to the post-event survey, and all reported being satisfied or very satisfied with the event overall. Two employers also indicated that they plan to interview GGU students as a direct result of the fair.
Golden Gate University continues to be a leader in preparing professionals for the region’s most in-demand accounting and tax roles. According to LinkedIn data, GGU ranks as the second-highest local university producing tax and accounting professionals currently working in the Bay Area—a testament to the university’s enduring strength in professional education.
Career Services plans to use feedback from this event to inform future employer engagement activities. With more career fairs, employer panels, and networking opportunities planned, GGU remains committed to helping its students and alumni translate their education into opportunity—one connection at a time.
