His work focuses primarily on St. Thomas Aquinas and Aristotle’s metaphysics in relation to contemporary discussion in metaphysics. He is also currently working on issues to the philosophy of play. Besides that, he loves to study all areas of philosophy, especially the history of philosophy. In his courses, he encourages students to think critically about history and thus question, among other things, who writes it, who is left out, and how understandings of history influence understandings of contemporary philosophical questions. He also invites students to see philosophy not just as an academic discipline, but primarily as a way of life. This involves, among other things, seeing the different branches and questions in philosophy as ultimately interconnected and seeing personal lives as essentially tied to the project of philosophizing. Besides philosophy, he enjoys listening to and playing music, going to the beach and enjoying sunsets, going to art museums, and eating good food!
