Contemporary Information Technology (IT) managers are organizational leaders who bridge and integrate the worlds of business and IT. They engage business leaders and apply AI, cloud, SaaS, analytics, and management technologies to implement business processes. They possess the skills to succeed in a complex environment.

The Master of Science in Information Technology Management (MS ITM) program is designed to develop professionals for top positions in IT management. The degree is aligned with the needs of the modern management-level technology professional using emerging tools to plan, budget, design, deploy, and operate enterprise-level technologies for business success.

The MS ITM curriculum is based on IT concentrations including: emerging systems design, AI software development, utilization of SaaS, Cloud & owned servers, Networks, Data Management, and Security delivered in courses that address integrating emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, cloud native services, server virtualization, Site Reliability Engineering, and mobile platforms support. This is a STEM-listed program.

The demand for IT management professionals is expected to grow much faster than average over the next decade, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates there will be about 48,500 new job openings each year through 2032.

Curriculum

Students considered for admission to this program will have a minimum of 30 undergraduate credits in technical courses or three years of substantial work experience in a technical field. A business manager with 4 years of experience and significant interaction with IT will also be considered.

The Master of Science in IT Management requires completion of 30 units in the graduate program, including: 21 units of core courses, 6 units of elective courses, and 3 units for the capstone course. The MS ITM curriculum is grounded in the foundational components of information systems: Design, software, infrastructure, networks, data, security, and real-time delivery. The program addresses these foundations from both an emerging-technology and a classic view. Instructors with current field experience at Bay Area’s top companies present courses that address the strategic application of the foundation and emerging technologies, e.g., Artificial Intelligence, unstructured data management, cloud services, system virtualization, CI/CD, SRE, and mobile platforms. This program is a STEM-designated degree program.

Program Format

The Master of Science in Information Technology Management program is offered in two program formats: non-cohort and cohort.

Non-Cohort Program

  • Domestic or international students are eligible for the non-cohort program
  • Courses are offered online or hybrid
  • The non-cohort program is self-paced and courses can be taken part- or full-time
  • Students may enroll in the program during any term
  • STEM OPT duration for non-cohort students is up to 36 months

Cohort Program

  • Only international students are eligible to join the cohort program
  • Courses are offered in-person in San Francisco
  • Cohort program students take courses full-time on a fixed schedule
  • Students must enroll in the Fall term and will complete the degree in 12 months
  • STEM OPT duration for non-cohort students is up to 36 months
  • Cohort program students have access to OPT support*
OPT Support

*Students in the MS IT Management International Cohort program will attend weekly career seminars and have access to job search support for Optional Practical Training (OPT) employment. Golden Gate University does not guarantee job placement.

Graduate Tuition

The tuition for most graduate degree programs at Golden Gate University is $1,090 per unit, covering the cost of high-quality, career-focused education led by experienced faculty.
