U.S. Veterans Magazine names Golden Gate University a 2026 Top Veteran School

SAN FRANCISCO — U.S. Veterans Magazine has named Golden Gate University (GGU) a 2026 Top Veteran School. The recognition honors the work of GGU’s Helen Diller Center for Veterans of U.S. Military Service, which supports veterans from their first day of enrollment through their transition into the workforce.

This marks GGU’s second recognition from the magazine, following its designation as a Top Veteran Friendly School in the 2024-25 cycle.

GGU has served working adults and career changers since 1901, which has made it a natural home for veterans for more than a century. Today, a successful transition from military service also calls for fluency in AI. Because GGU integrates AI into every program, veterans develop those skills as part of their coursework in fields like business, accounting, tax, psychology and technology. They graduate ready for the job market as it exists today.

Each GGU program is designed with career outcomes in mind, and the Helen Diller Center supports veterans at every stage. Students receive help with onboarding and VA benefits when they arrive, along with success coaching throughout their studies. As graduation nears, the center also helps them plan their next career move.

In 2025, the Helen Diller Center expanded career preparation for veterans and strengthened its onboarding and coaching for new and returning students. This year, GGU is extending that work into the classroom, where veterans build the AI skills today’s employers expect.

Garcia, Director of Veterans Affairs at Golden Gate University and a 21-year U.S. Army retiree. “Our mission is to help them build on that experience and prepare for the next chapter of their careers, with the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly AI-driven workforce. Recognition as a Top Veteran School reflects the collective commitment of the Helen Diller Center and the entire GGU Veteran Services team to the success of our veteran students.”

GGU’s service to veterans began in 1918, when the university welcomed students returning from World War I. In the 1970s and 1980s, GGU offered classes at nearly three dozen military bases. That legacy continues today as the university prepares veterans for the future of work.
