DAI 825
Industry Deep Dive: AI Applications, Ethics & Governance in Practice
4 Unit(s)
This course examines AI application within a selected industry or public-service domain, emphasizing contextual effectiveness, acceptable risk, and accountable deployment. Students analyze documented cases, workflows, data characteristics, stakeholder interests, and the quality of evidence supporting claimed benefits. They investigate ethical, legal, regulatory, security, privacy, bias, and societal considerations, including relevant international and jurisdictional differences. Students design an application-specific evaluation and governance framework and test its operation through a bounded control implementation and incident-response exercise. Comparative cases examine the conditions for transfer. The course culminates in a defended adoption recommendation and a revised governance package supported by control records, assigned responsibilities, and evidence from the exercise.
