SAN FRANCISCO — Golden Gate University (GGU) has selected Edvisor, an AI teaching and learning platform that helps instructors create interactive course materials, personalize learning, and provide real-time feedback, as a technology partner. After a summer pilot, Edvisor is now in use in GGU’s foundational AI curriculum, as well as 40 additional courses across business, finance, accounting, marketing, and psychology, with more to follow.
GGU’s students are working adults, and many study online across time zones. Edvisor gives them near-instantaneous feedback on every assignment and can answer questions about the course material at any hour.
“Every student at GGU is balancing a degree with a career, and they deserve a course that responds to them as individuals,” said GGU President Brent White. “Edvisor makes that possible. Our students graduate fluent in AI because they have used it every week in their coursework.”
Each course on Edvisor is built by its instructor. Faculty upload their syllabus and course materials, and the platform helps them turn those into interactive readings and assessments. The instructor sets the rubric the platform uses for feedback and chooses how it interacts with students.
Edvisor also supports oral assessments, in which a student explains their reasoning aloud and in their own words. This allows the instructor to understand the student’s comprehension of the material prior to issuing a final grade.
“Our School of Psychology studies how AI shapes the way people learn and think, so we set a high bar for any AI tool used in our courses. It has to strengthen the relationship between students and their professors rather than stand in for it,” said Tom Wooldridge, Vice Provost for Digital Innovation at GGU and founding dean of the School of Psychology. “Edvisor met that bar.”
GGU integrates AI into every program so that graduates can use it as a tool of their trade. In Edvisor courses, that practice happens inside the coursework itself.
“We built Edvisor to make learning more individualized, giving students personalized guidance and support based on the content and standards established by their professor,” said Edvisor co-founders Shariq Shah and Rameez Mahmood. “GGU was an early partner because its working-adult population and wide range of academic programs provided an ideal environment to develop and refine this approach.”
