SAN FRANCISCO — Golden Gate University today announced the launch of its School of Emerging Technology, bringing the university’s artificial intelligence and emerging technology programs together under one school. With hubs in San Francisco and Singapore, the school opens with more than 1,200 enrolled students taught by more than 25 faculty experts whose work connects with artificial intelligence.

Built on the premise that AI fluency is a foundational professional skill, the school’s programs follow two tracks: one trains AI specialists, while the other trains AI bilingualists, professionals fluent in applying artificial intelligence in their fields.

“For 125 years, Golden Gate University’s mission has been to power economic mobility through education,” said GGU President Brent White. “Today, that means preparing students for careers in artificial intelligence, whether as AI specialists or as professionals who understand the applications of AI to their areas of expertise.”

The launch brings GGU’s existing emerging technology programs under one school, including:

  • The DBA in Emerging Technology, the largest program of its kind, which currently enrolls more than 900 students across 60 countries.
  • The MS in Artificial Intelligence, which currently enrolls more than 300 students.
  • The recently launched Doctor of Technology in Applied and Agentic AI and MS in Applied and Agentic AI.

Programs in development within the school include a Doctorate of Artificial Intelligence, an MS in AI Governance, and BS and MS programs in Cybersecurity.

In addition to offering degree programs, the school will lead AI integration across the GGU curriculum, including required coursework in applied artificial intelligence for all students. This fall, more than 5,000 students are enrolled in GGU’s applied AI curriculum, including more than 1,000 students in Latin America taking courses in Spanish.

The school will also house a new Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence, which will offer executive education for senior leaders and their teams, founder education and support for AI startups, applied research in partnership with industry, and public AI talks and events.

“AI is reshaping every profession, and most working adults have not had a serious opportunity to develop the fluency they need to lead through that change,” said Dr. Edward Roekaert, Executive Vice President and Provost of Golden Gate University. “This school exists to close that gap. We are building something that has not existed before: a school designed from the ground up to prepare working professionals for leadership in an AI-transformed economy, at a scale and level of access that reflects GGU’s mission.”

“Working professionals do not need another survey of AI. They need to be able to build with it and lead the people who use it,” said Dr. Simon See, the school’s founding dean. “GGU has already enrolled thousands of students in programs that teach exactly that. The ability to do so at scale, in a range of languages, and to respond quickly to the needs of industry is something that few institutions can match.”
