We know life gets busy. That’s why we offer convenient online courses as well as hybrid classes at our San Francisco campus. You can choose to earn your degree online or in a hybrid mode with occasional required on campus classes per term.
At Golden Gate University, we grant up to 93 units for previous education, military experience, or work experience. We’ll work with you to determine how your past experience can apply to your degree program so that you can earn your degree faster.

Full-Time Employees
Through Amazon Career Choice, full-time Amazon employees can combine up to $5,250 per year in tuition assistance and GGU grants for certificates, associate degrees, and bachelor’s degrees.
Your degree can be fully funded as a full-time employee, allowing you to pursue a maximum of 30 credits per year debt-free.
- Amazon will fund up to 12 credits per calendar year.
- A GGU grant of up to $8,862 can be used to fund up to 18 credits per calendar year. A $1 per course charge applies to these courses.
Part-Time Employees
Part-time Amazon employees can combine up to $2,625 per year in tuition assistance and GGU grants for certificate programs, associate degrees, and bachelor’s degrees.
Take up to 30 credits per year as a part-time employee and receive partial funding from Amazon tuition assistance and GGU grants.
- Amazon will fund up to six credits per calendar year.
- Using a GGU grant, you’ll pay out of pocket a reduced tuition rate of $416 per credit for the next six credits per calendar year (Federal Aid eligible).
- A GGU grant of up to $8,586 will also fund up to 18 credits per calendar year. A $1 per course charge applies to these courses.

2. Submit Your Application
Apply for admission to your chosen degree or certificate program. Our advisors will work with you through every step of the admissions process.
3. Enroll in Courses
Once you are admitted to the university, enroll in courses for an upcoming term through the Golden Gate University portal.
4. Request Payment From Amazon Career Choice
After you are accepted and enrolled in courses, you can request payment from Amazon Career Choice.
Visit the Amazon Career Choice website and submit a payment request each term for your chosen GGU program. The request will be sent to the GGU for course confirmation and approval; if approved, Amazon will pay GGU directly.

In the U.S., Amazon is investing $1.2 billion to up-skill more than 300,000 employees by 2025 to help move them into higher-paying, in-demand jobs. Amazon’s Career Choice program is an education benefit that empowers Amazon employees to learn new skills for career success at Amazon or elsewhere. Eligible Amazon employees are able to participate in Career Choice after only 90 days of employment, and there is no limit to the number of years you can utilize the benefit as long as you’re employed by Amazon.
Full-time Amazon employees are able to earn their degree virtually debt-free through the GGU and Amazon Career Choice partnership. Up to 30 credits per year will be fully funded by a GGU grant and Amazon tuition assistance for full-time employees.
Part-time employees can earn a certificate fully funded by taking a maximum of six credits per calendar year. If you’d like to take additional courses within that year, you’ll pay a grant-funded reduced tuition rate of $416 per credit for up to 12 credits and then just $1 per course up to 30 credits in a calendar year, funded by a GGU grant.
As long as you are employed by Amazon, there is no limit to the number of years you can use your Amazon Career Choice benefit. Most students are able to complete their undergraduate degree within four years if taking the maximum of 30 credits per year. You may take longer to complete your degree if you’d like.
Yes, GGU accepts up to 93 transfer credits. We can help accelerate your learning by evaluating previous credits and coursework, offering testing for credit, evaluating previous work experience, applying ADT from California community colleges, and applying military training and service toward eligible transfer academic credits. Your Enrollment Advisor will work with you to help determine how many credits may apply toward your GGU program.
Yes! As a part-time Amazon employee, your Amazon Career Choice funds will cover your tuition costs for up to six credits a year ($2,625). You’ll also receive grant-funded reduced tuition rates for any additional credits you’d like to take.
