Program Description
Many business professionals recognize the importance of advanced study in finance, but have neither the time nor the need to complete requirements for a traditional academic degree. For such students, certificate programs combinations of for-credit courses focusing on specific business areas are the ideal solution. The Department of Finance and Economics offers a number of graduate certificates in finance: general finance, financial planning, and technical market analysis
It is not necessary to be admitted to a degree program in order complete a finance certificate, and the admission procedures for certificate programs are streamlined and brief. Because certificate programs carry full academic credit, non-degree students may later these courses toward the satisfaction of degree requirements. Note that students who have been admitted to degree programs may certificates in the process of meeting their degree requirements; student pursuing an MS in finance, for example, could readily earn certificate in technical market analysis as part of his/her degree studies.
Many of the courses available as part of certificate studies can taken via the Internet, through Golden Gate's innovative CyberCampus. Please note that some courses taken as part of certificate programs have prerequisites. These prerequisites must be satisfied (through transfer of equivalent coursework or through taking the courses at Golden Gate) before the certificate courses can be completed.
Graduate Certificate in Finance
REQUIRED - 15 units
· FI 300 Corporate Finance
· Four additional ECON or FI 300- or 400-level courses, for a total of 15 units.
